The Shambles Bar in Dublin Street, Monaghan, is a well know local  bar catering for all ages with a quiet bar and larger lounge area that is complete with jukebox, pool table, darts and big screen sports projector for viewing all major sporting events.

Just outside the Shambles bar is one of the longest surviving architectural monument feature in Monaghan town.

The Old Cross monument originally stood at the centre of The Diamond at the heart of the town and it was used as a meeting point for trade and hiring until the mid-1870s when it was moved to its current home in Old Cross Square. Although the monument is called the Old Cross, it is in fact an old sundial stand that could come in handy if you ever lost track of time (or your watch) after a night of fun and craic in Martin Mc Clerys Shambles Bar.

While the Old Cross monument dates from the seventeenth century which makes it the longest surviving architectural feature in Monaghan town, the Shambles Bar is very much a 21st. century bar with its newly installed Touch Screen System. Martin runs his successful bar using a combinbation of the award winning ICR Touch Point of Sale Software running on the Sam4s Titan Touch Screen and the compact Sam4s GIANT100 Thermal Receipt Printer, all of which have been customised and installeds by Astec P.O.S.
