Food Labelling Regulation (EU) No. 1169/2011, which is commonly known as the Food Consumers Regulation (FIC), replaces the current rules. It sets out the requirements for the provision of food information to consumers. It outlines the new requirements with regards to the provision of nutritional information. The Regulation applies to all food business operators at all stages of the food chain where their activities involve providing information on food to consumers.

An Information Booklet has been developed by IBEC as a guidance on the labelling aspect of the Regulation for Irish businesses producing food for the Irish Market. It should be used in conjunction with the official Food Regulation Document.
