MONAGHAN IN THE TOP TEN FOOD DESTINATIONS 2016

Monaghan Food Destination Nomination 2016

In 2014 The Restaurants Association of Ireland formed a new initiative to seek out the Top Foodie Destination in Ireland. The main aim of the initiative being to create an awareness of the wonderful food that is available throughout Ireland.

Previously known as Foodie Towns and formerly a part of the Irish Restaurant Awards it has become so popular that it is now a unique award in its own right with initiatives that support local food tourism programs across the country through food festivals, gourmet trails, farmers markets and great restaurants.

As anybody who lives in Monaghan or who has visted our drumlin county knows we are very fortunate to have some of the best restaurants in the country and coupled with an abundance of indiginous food companies providing the finest of local produce it is hardly surprising to know that Monaghan has made it onto the list of Ireland’s Top Ten Food Destinations from all applications that were received from all corners of the country.

With an impressive list that includes Cong, Howth, Malahide, Skerries, Leitrim, Boyne Valley, Derry, Kilkenny, Sligo, Loop Head Peninsula and The Burren,  Monaghan has been aknowledged as a force to be reckoned with in the areas of food education, training, development and employment all of which are key components of the ultimate Foodie Destination.

Winners will be chosen based on both judges reports and the public vote. The judges will visit each finalist county in the coming weeks and their score, along with the public’s vote, will ultimately decide the winning destination.

The public can choose their winning destination by visiting the Voting Page.
